ECO FRIENDLY PET SAFE LAWN CARE
Lawn disease can be prevented and potential danger to
pets, humans and the environment can be reduced by
implementing a proper eco friendly, pet safe, lawn maintenance program that
addresses fertilization, drainage, watering and mowing. Typically, lawns thrive in well drained
soils with high biomass levels and high organic matter.
Excessive watering and fertilization (especially excessive
nitrogen applications) can be problematic to most
lawns.
Eco friendly, pet safe
lawn fertilizers can stimulate soil biomass and promote healthy root and
shoot growth. Chemicals do not provide essential
nutrients necessary for healthy plant growth. In fact,
chemical fertilizers can kill soil biomass and inhibit
plant growth. Fertilize at the right time of the year using
complete fertilizers that satisfy the nutrient needs of
the grass.
Typically,
eco friendly lawns recover relatively quick from moderate levels of pest
damage without the need for synthetic pesticides, herbicides and
fungicides. When a disease or insect problem is suspected, consider the
potential health risks associated with herbicides, pesticides and
fungicides before
applying them. Of interest,
both the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Academy of
Sciences have voiced concern about the dangers that pesticides pose to
children. A California law now gives you the right to be notified before
your child’s school uses a pesticide. |
