CONSUMES INORGANIC NITROGEN i.e. AMMONIA, NITRATE
AND NITRITE IN
MUNICIPAL AND INDUSTRIAL TREATMENT PLANTS |
EC-2556
is formulated to...
Remove nitrogen from
wastewater rather than converting it to another form.
Significantly reduce ammonia
levels, typically 40-50% within 24-48 hours.
Enhance removal of organic
nitrogen i.e. amino acids, proteins, purines, pyrimidines,
nucleic acids etc.
Increase wastewater treatment
efficiency by at least 50%.
Reduce plant upsets resulting
from shock.
Eliminate expensive
surcharges due to high TKN discharge levels.
EC-2556 removes nitrogen from wastewater,
as opposed to converting it from ammonia to nitrate or nitrite. |
THE PROCESS
EC-2556
bacteria are heterotrophs and utilize organic carbon as as
an energy. During the cleanup process, overall nitrogen
removal occurs through three separate mechanisms...
1. The
bacteria strains are formulated to attack a wide
range of organic chemicals and, as a result, they have a
significantly higher carbon uptake when compared to bacteria
found in conventional WWTP's. This increase in carbon uptake
results in a corresponding increase in nitrogen uptake.
Since ammonia is available as a nitrogen source, ammonia
consumption is increased and, as a result, ammonia levels,
in the discharged water, are reduced.
2. When the system DO
levels decrease to a critical stage,
the bacteria
utilize
nitrite/nitrate for respiration. This results in lower
nitrogen levels.
3. When the
system is ammonia deficient, the bacteria utilize nitrite
and nitrate for growth purposes.
